I've been a long time Mac user. But my old Mac started to become too old to keep updated.I could only afford a good used Dell (Pentium 4). It came with Windoze XP.I reformatted the drive to allow me to run Ubuntu Linux (available for free) as well as Windoze.I use Linux 99% of the time, the only time I need to ever use Windoze is when I have to use one specific program that only works under that OS.Running on the same hardware (1.5 GHz Pentium 4, 1 Gig RAM), Linux is at least 3 times faster than XP.The only drawback to Linux is that when something misbehaves or requires deeper attention, it's more complicated to solve. But it is solvable and at no cost.PS: If funds were not an issue, I'd get the sleekest, ***iest new Mac I could!! I still love Macintosh and if it were possible I'd still be running System 6 on an SE/30!
