I'm new to php and sql so please bear with me. I downloaded them both two days ago.So, I have MySQL Server 5.0 on my computer and I know how to use the command line and so on.I can see the 'people' table I created saved as people.frm in my files.Question: When I sign up for webhosting and transfer all my files to the host, will the mysql files/database work or will I have to create it all over again?

Yes, the same way you have to transfer all your files and directories, you have to transfer all your databases too.

As long as your webhost's PHP and MySQL versions are the same as the ones you're using on your PC you shouldn't have a problem. You can use a program such as Navicat to export the database from your local computer and then upload it on to your webhost's server.
