How long should we register a domain?

I have several domains, some .com, some .net and some .info. How do you determine how long should you register a domain when you buy one? Are there pros and cons in registering a domain for 1 year or 10 years, maybe?

weber, I tend to register a domain for only 1 year, to begin with.
Then if that domain becomes a popular/busy site and is earning you money, register it for longer after the first year.

There is no real set limit to what you can do here as each Webmaster will have his or her own opinion on this all i can say is do what you think is best, i hope that helps

Google and probably other SE use date of creation and domain exp date in their search algorithmus, if goal is to attract traffic register it for 5 years at least.
I agree it could be pricy for number of domain so see if a domain will pick up like the boss suggested with a one year trial registration.
