AdSense for Wordpress?

I went to a lot of sites, but I'm REALLY confused. I need someone to give a long, but easy explanation.I started a blog on Wordpress. The blog is one that is free, so I write everything from the internet, didn't download anything so far.I read that you can make money by putting Google Ads on your blog. Now it says that I have to use widegets and run WP 2.3 or something. I don't know what all of these are. How do I simply place ads (generate revenue) on my free Wordpress blog from my browser?
