I'm trying to make a new website for the company I'm working for and they're are fine with that. The only issue is keeping there page high on the search results. There previous designer made the page really ugly but he was able to keep them high on the results when you searched for the product they manufacture.

first, be sure to keep the same meta tag and description... also, with google, you get/stay higher in page ranks when 1) people link to you, 2) your content (text/alt tags/links) match the meta tags on the site....so.... if the company is fine with the text that is on the site, then use it, but make a cooler design, keeping the links/text/alt tag info the same and you should still maintain your rank in google/yahoo. if you are changing the text, just be sure to also change the meta information....... on one other note, create the TITLE tag to match what the page is saying as well to help keep the search engines o your side.
