Default Please tell the graphics card? 10 points to helper?

I have intel chipset 865 with 2.8 GHz , pentium 4, 1GB ram and a nvidia geforce 5200 fx with 256 mb memory. I think this video card is AGP one. I want to upgrade to new geforce 8800 GT with PCI express 2. Will my mother board be able to handle it, is there any problem of slots if i plan to remove my fx5200 . Please tell me that will I be able to upgrade my raphic card . I wanna play latest games like crysis.

Mother boards only have either PCI-Express OR AGP if you currently have an AGP card in there, you likely dont have PCI-Express...judging by the rest of the specs, this is most likely the case. Sorry man, gotta upgrade the board...(All boards have PCI however PCI-E is a different slot)

if your current graphics card is pci express and you are swapping out for another pci express card the will be no problem but if the new one is pci express x16 and you do not have a pci-e x16 slot then it wont work open up the computer and look the x16 slot is next to the regular pci slots but it is longer and usually blue

Hey! thats not a AGP display card!No problem if you install geforce 8800. But u have to remove/uninstall your previous display driver. That is nvidia geforce5200.Couse 865 chipset doesn't give AGP slots or display.

i think you would have to get a better processor like an Intel 2 duo 2.0G Ghz+ or AMD and 2 GB for ram. If your computer is a slow performance computer the 8800 Gt wont be as fast as you expect. you need a faster computer to run the 8800 Gt the way its supost to. Any ways i think for your computer try to check out the new 9600 GT or 8600 GT/GTS does are good cards and cheap. they can both play Crysis and alot of the new games, but if you want to go with the 8800 GT than go for it. The 9600 is just as fast as the 8800GT.

if your current motherboard contains AGP slot then it does not contain PCI-EXpress slot. Either of 1 is present in motherboard. So if u want to upgrade u have to ask for AGP card.

Your motherboard is only capable of using a AGP card. If you want to use a PCI-EXpress card you will need to change the motherboard.

Anyway, AGP cards these days are hard to get hold of due to the fact manufacturers are producing the newer type of card which is the PCI-EXpress hence the reason you need to change the motherboard.

Regards

PS,

If you upgrade the card and motherboard you might as well get hold of a new processor and ram, then your not going to get problems playing crysis.

id ur current is a PCI-E then yes u can install it but thats just stupid. WTF 8800 GT on a PEntium 4 with 1 gb of ram? WTF my 2.66ghz dual core with 2 gb of corsair XMS2 ddr2 - 800 still only needs a 8600 GTS. Yeh so the rest of your computer will bottleneck ur 8800 GT so just go buy a new comp if you really want a 8800 GT
