Default How do I replace my integrated graphics?

Please, please, answer this only if you had integrated graphics and replaced it with a REAL graphics card, or if you are an experienced computer geek and have replaced integrated graphics before. Is this the right way to replace my integrated graphics? I have an emachines (Don't tell me, I know, horrible game computer) with an intel 82945G express chipset. My computer runs Vista. I'm getting an Nvidia GeForce 8500GT card.1. In device manager, uninstall card.2. Shut down computer.3. Unplug computer and open it up.4. Put the video card in.5. Replace cover.6. Plug in computer, turn it on.7. Press F1 a lot at the beginning to go to BIOS.8. In Advanced, switch primary video adapter to PCI-E x16.9. Press F10 to save settings and exit.10. Turn computer on, install drivers using the card's instructions.11. When windows tells you to, restart computer. That IS how you do it right? Word by word? Last time I did it I had to reinstall my computer because I know nothing about video cards and I did it wrong. Better yet, if someone has VERY detailed instructions on every little thing I do to replace this, that would be excellent.

sounds like you did everything right....but thats a 8500GT...not only do you have to plug it into the PCI-e you have to give it power from you power supply....make sure you did that...if not...you may have a faulty card

you need to give power to your graphics card, connect the power plug of the psu to your graphics card*check if you have enough wattage for your graphics cardin step 8, you have to be sure that the graphics card you inserted is on a PCI-E x16

Just uninstall the drivers of the old one, install the new one and install the drivers. that easy... The Motherboard disables the integrated automatically

that sounds about right. i have that same graphics card so it should work. this is how i did it:1: i inserted my new 8500 GT in my empty PCI-E x16 slot and turned on the computer2. {Note: your computer screen should look really pixely and stuff, thats because we haven't installed the drivers for the graphics card yet} When I turned on my computer i put in the driver cd and installed the drivers, and then restarted the computer.3. Vwola! its all done!Hope this helped! ^_^PS:I have made 13 computers from total scratch, lawlz. i love computers.
