This presumes that god did say that, which first presumes that god exists. Provide proof that A: God exists, and that B: he/she/it said this and then we can give a meaningful answer. Tell then it is merely a load of swamp gas.

Picking an American president is a lot more than who you idolize. It is determining who agrees with your outlook on life and the way things should work, within the framework (and a fine one it is) laid out for our country over 200 years ago.
