Those that do, do. Those that can't, teach. Those that can't teach, get a talk show.

Chuck Hagel is right...Good for him!And for those who don't know, Hagel is a Republican, not a Democrat and he's white not black...

Let's approach this in a different light. If the Democrats organize and get the Fairness Doctrine reinstated, they could single handily end the reign conservative talk radio. I have observed where the Liberal talk Radio host has difficulty holding an audience or keep a show on the air waves. You do not have to agree or even listen to these radio host. Does the fact the you disagree with their politics give you the right to destroy broadcast in effect taking away the choice a part of U.S. Citizens would be the ultimate results. As far as they "try to rip everyone down .........everybody" goes I observed that both parties were ripping down their opponents during this election. Look in a mirror and see both sides of the issue.

I listen to talk radio but it is nothing more than entertainment. Those hosts are only in it for the $$$$. Otherwise if they truly cared about our country they would contribute by running for office more than just providing lip service.

Hagel's statement is certainly sarcastic sour grapes as Limbaugh does invoke his name fairly regularly (with good reason). Limbaugh knows he can influence many more people right where he is right now than if he were to be in elected office. Although I, personally, think Rush has much more intelligence, common sense and thinks using logic more than most members of Congress, I don't think he could ever be happy having to negotiate and compromise his beliefs to further any agenda.Limbaugh calls himself an entertainer and he's just a gifted communicator whose material just gets dropped into his lap. Do you have similar opinions about Jon Stewart, Stephen Colbert, or David Letterman?

Yes whole heartedly. I am thankful that the comment came from someone who is considered to be a conservative Republican. They love to run their mouths but never run for office because they would be shown up for what really are- bags of wind.

If you can't stand the heat, stay out of the kitchen. That's why they stay behind the comfort of a microphone that they control the conversation with. Most couldn't stand the scrutiny of a campaign (drug addict Rush quickly comes to mind).

Hagel rules. And he's right about this even though he's being sarcastic. Rush would win in a landslide victory just because of name recognition but, he's making too much money off of the people that listen to him to run for any office. I also think that a lot of what he says would not be taken seriously in a practical sense so he probably would be an ineffectual public servant if he continued to do things as he does on his show.

It's a pretty good assessment. Note the one radio entertainer that actually did run for office was from the left.

People who knock Rush have never listened to Rush. His show is one of the few places that Conservatives can hear the "other side of the story." All of the major networks are LIB run and paid for so 90% of the public always hears 1 point of view. The LIB media got Obama elected by pounding his message down everyone's throat for a year. If it were not for Limbaugh McCain would have gotten no coverage at all. Hagel has been the target of Rush commentaries- thus his comments. Hagel is a Republican in name only and the party would be better off without him. It is time for Republicans to clean house and get rid of all of the Chuck Hagel's in the US Senate.
