Be cheerful, seat people, help out the waitresses, then ask them what you should do.

Sit people, get there water (possibly drinks in general), take the money when they are done. Worked at a Denny's as a hostest. It was okay. The cook's gave me tips sometimes. Same with a couple of the waitresses.

You are the first impression of the establishment. Smile and greet everyone as if they are your personal dinner guests.

Hmmm lets see....how to put this gently...You smile real big, flirt with the guys, so they'll wanna come back.Welcome to being meat dear.Work your way UP? You get paid a steady amount, and do next to nothing, you don't want to be a waitress.Fun? Yea, make friends with the wait staff, and of course flirt with cute guests. (watch out for girlfriends)Chili's is very corporate, this is why you don't want to be on the wait staff.Gratz, you have one of the highest paying, low work, part time jobs

I was a Host at Applebees for a long time and it isn't a difficult job. You seat people... which means you will have to memorize table numbers. You usually introduce the menu to them and if the waitress is too busy at that time you will take their drink orders.Also... I don't think Chilis does this, but at Applebees we hada rotation of Hostesses that were door greeters, busers and seaters. We switched on and off what we would do.I thought it was a fun job... Make sure you interact alot with the people you work with and it will make it a good time.Good luck! =)=)

Once I was a host....it was the most boring job of my life...I ended up quiting! I took people to their tables, but you have to go by the 'seating chart' and know the table numbers. If you double seat a waiter or don't tell them that you sat a table in their section be ready to get yelled at. The waiters think that they are better and above the hostess because they work harder and do everything...which is true. I almost felt guilty because I would just be standing there at my podium waiting for people to walk in...and the waiters would be working their butts off. Being a hostess is a great beginning job...its easy and pays, but just be ready to get alot of crap from the waiters. I'm not speaking bad about waiter/waitresses at all, I respect their job and know first hand how hard they work...I would be yelling at people alot too. Good luck with your new job, and congratulations!!
