There five options.1. The most obvious one is MS Office for Mac.2. TextEdit, which comes with the Mac, can read and write Word documents. This is a basic text editor with rich text and a spell checker. Click on the search icon in the top right corner and type in "textedit" and it will pop right up.3. NeoOffice, which is an entire free office suite, that is compatible with Word, Powerpoint, and Excel files. This is what I recommend because it is free and awesome.4. Abiword, which is a free to word processor. It is faster, but not nearly as robust as NeoOffice.5. There is also Pages, part of Apple's rival to MS Office called iWork. All of these programs can create and edit the same Microsoft Word files you use on Windows. You can also save a document as a PDF to avoid any font rendering issues when transferring files. (To make a PDF, click File > Print and click the PDF button. This works in every mac program.)
