You can get all the Microsoft Office packages for Mac but as an extra, usually they aren't installed as standard!

You can buy it and install it. Because there hasn't been a new version in 3 years, it will run slow and not take advantage of the Intel processors. You can buy iWorks 08 for about $300 less. It will open Word, Excel and PowerPoint formats and save In a format for PCs to use. The MacBook comes with Text Edit which will read Word documents but it is a basic word processor.
