It's good for a desktop, but it will run your battery down on a laptop. Vista needs a very good graphics card to run properly, and that requires power.

If you are weighing your options, Vista is the newest "latest and greatest" version of Windows. It's predecessor, Windows XP is still the most widely used copy of Windows, and will remain this for quite some time. You don't really gain anything with Vista over XP - and it still has alot of "quirks" that haven't been worked out yet.Vista is the temporary future of Microsoft's desktop OS, but look for a new and improved OS inside of 2 years instead of the 6 that XP has reigned king.XP is currently the better, more efficient and compatible choice. If comparing a Mac with Vista - I'd even say lean toward the Mac.Best of luck shopping.

A lot of people are complaining about it, but we have to remember that it just recently came out and there aren't many programs compatible for it. I'd give Vista a couple more months and a lot of people will want it.
