because microsoft started by pirating apple, so they decided to do the same thing now.dont you see the similarities between vista and osx?spotlight in apple is the start menu search feature in vista.the overall sleek interface is apples.microsoft even copied from leopard, which isnt even out yet

Didn't you know, Microsoft has to reverse engineer all of Apple's Ideas and tries to improve on it. Windows idea was Apple's OS but improved. Microsoft has aways been a copy cat, not a innovator.That's my take.

it's not that they can't keep up, it's just that they are two different operating systems. windows is doing their own thing (kinda modeling after mac with aesthetics), and Mac has pioneered their own thing and is working with it. In my opinion, Macs are just far better in every way and if everyone would give them a chance they'd see too. But it's almost a good thing that people don't try them out because it keeps the support high and potential malicious content at a 0. and for all those people who say "it's easy for the mentally challenged", you guys hear one little phrase that makes you feel smart for using a pc and you milk it. give it up already.

Mac OS runs only on Apple hardware, so Apple can control things like how many device drivers they need. Since Windows is reasonably hardware-independent, they have to spend a lot more time dealing with drivers, conflicts and other issues related to supporting such a wide variety of hardware.
