would you please help me in programming search engine in ASP.NET?

I Have to program a function for searching something in a (sql server) database in ASP.NET platform, but unfortunately I don't know how to do it.especially I don't know how can I make relation between SQLsever and ASP.NET. would you please help? I 'm fresh in ASP.NETof course for searching sth that user entered.I know PHP and MYSQL more than ASP.NET and SQLSEVER , but I have to designe the project in ASP.NET and SQLSEVER.I know how to design it's form, but I don't know what should I do in file.aspx.vb...
