drop the low E string so that when you press the 9th fret it sounds the same as the open A. when you get that down, press the 7th fret on the A string and tune until it sounds like the open D. then the 7th on D to sound like G and the 7th on G to sound like high E. then hold the 5th fret on the G and tune the high E down to match it.

First tune to standard, EADGBe. Next you need to tune the entire guitar down 1 whole step. Do this by matching up the pitch of the 3rd fret of the low E to the adjacent higher pitched string, A. This will give you a G note.Tune from the 5th fret, (4th fret on the G string), from the newly lowered string matching the next higher adjacent string to it's pitch at the 5th fret. It's the same procedure when tuning normally. Do this across all the guitar strings. Finally go back to the low E string. Match it's pitch, one octave lower, to the open 4th string, which will be a C now. There you have it, drop C. The pitches will look like this, high to low
AFC GCAlso remember, you'll probably have to get higher gage strings to compensate for the slack tuning and lower tension. I'd recommend .011-.048 gage or larger, depending on your string tension preference. |
