Default Can you get too much Vitamin C from dietary supplements?

Can someone basically overdose on vitamin C?

No, because every time you pee it is washed out. When I am getting sick with a cold I take 1000mg every hour on the hour. The only side effect might be loose bowels. In that case, it is good because the germs and bacteria are leaving your body. Injections are given in hospitals at high doses, so know it is safe.

No you cant. Your body just releases the excess through your urine.

There is little chance to, but there is a upper limit of what you can take. Women are recommended to take 75 mg per day and have an upper limit of 2000 mg while men have a recommended intake of 90 mg per day with the same upper limit. Taking very high doses can cause diarrhea and can cause ingestion on an empty stomach. At extremely high doses you could have toxic effects such as "The signs and symptoms in adults were nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, flushing of the face, headache, fatigue and disturbed sleep".
