Any used vehicle is at the mercy of the owner. it is not the vehicle but how it was used and cared for when it was in the possession of the previous owner. The motors are generally the same as in any of the pick ups and vans on the road--your choices are gas or diesel--but again the maintenance records should be available. a generator is one thing to check--the suspension and transmission is another. I would get a clean low mileage RV--then service it like it was yours and the best kept RV on the road. All fluids and filters replaced--oil, coolant and trans fluid changed--NEW shocks and put dry gas in the fuel tank--RVs sit for long periods of time--condensation in the tank will put water in there as a matter of natural happenings. Make sure the fan belt is changed...and all lights are working. There should be NO water run stains on the walls--the roof should not leak. the air conditioners are on the motor AND maybe one on the roof--CHECK them too. Brakes can be done if needed--should not pull or sway--align the front end and check tires and the balance. It is worth every penny to do all of this. Then check kitchen plumbing--propane system check too--toilet operation and tank drain should work very well. Musty odors or itchy throat and eyes means fungus--a wet hidden floor and walls. The exhaust system should be checked--the fire extinguishers--first aid kit--upholstery should have NO tears. have fun and good luck
