...I am meeting a gentleman in? a few days. We have spoken many many times over the phone, he has never asked for anything, nor I, we just wanted to meet. He is from England and I am from the U.S. So, on the show they talk about scams that men from England and Russia have done, and although in my heart of hearts I do not believe this to be the case, however, I googled his name and his name comes up, a much younger man than he says he is, as a serial rapist and murderer. Well, I think to myself, why would anyone give you a name, if indeed you are that person, knowing all of this information is available on the internet. Guess my question is, am I stupid or do genuine people exist. No, I have never seen a photo just wanted to be surprise. I know I know, you may be REALLY surprised. Anyone think I am just overreacting. Can't reach him on the phone as he is asleep. Thanks for your inputNo, unfortunately I am not young, I am 40! Thanks for the help so far......

I think you have to be careful when you meet anyone. My friends and I had certain things in place to prevent problems. Firstly only ever meet in a crowded place where you feel comfortable. Second, get a friend to call you ten minutes after they know you have met him. You have a code for 'I am okay' or 'help he is a looney'. If its looney time, they come to the place and rescue you. If you are okay, they turn up after an hour. No first date should be longer than that anyway so you leave with your mate and arrange another date with your man if you want to.

Depending on his name, it may just be a common enough name that he happens to share it with a serial rapist and murderer. But you never know...Genuine people exist. How did you meet him anyway? If you had a mutual friend or something, you're probably okay. If you just met him through some chat room, though...I'd be a little wary even if you hadn't googled his name and found out weird stuff. Meeting people without any kind of connection can turn into a really negative experience....

you had better be meeting him in a public place. Taking some friends as backup or having them hang out in the same place is a good idea too. Yes, genuine ppl do exist. I always have a tendency to see the good in ppl first too. But you still have to be careful.

Oh my gosh are you serious? Don't meet this guy! If anything REQUEST a picture! Dont be ignorant and get hurt. And if plans are already made, meet him with your friends! Dont let him know where you live. Sweetie, if his name comes up on the internet w/all that stuff, he probably doesn't know it's on the internet. He just thinks he can keep getting away with stuff and keep hurting people! Be smarter than the rapist!

If he is really a serial rapist and murderer wouldnt he be in prison? Quite often more than one person has the same name. I dont see how in all the information on google such a precise answer can come up. Surely there must be absolutely loads of stuff. When I google my name every thing to do with my first name and surname comes up. My entire life doesnt just appear in print.Anyway where are you meeting? In the US. If he has a prison record, he wouldnt be allowed to travel there.If you ever meet any kind of blind 'date' you should meet in a very public place, stay in public, etc etc. and possibly carry a weapon. I would.PS I just googled my blokes name to see what happens - he is a composer, author, oncology lecturer and has several items for sale in want ads. and that was just the first page.

there are alot of scams on the internet.but if this guy wants to come to usa to meet you then he is probally not a scam.a scammer would either tell you to come to there country or ask for you to send money with western union for the airfare.as far as the name goes.. I would hope he is not the same guy. is this a common name he has? the internet is huge and lot's of people share names...I would definatly get a picture of this guy and if you do meet him.
