There are many sites available that you can obtain house values from. As to the accuracy it is really hit and miss. Some sites may be very close for some properties and way off for others. Zillow is probably one of the most commonly used sites now-a-days for a quick estimate and the county auditor's sites will provide the county assessed market value. The assessed value is usually lower than fair market value but between the two services hopefully you should be able to get a fair idea for yourself.

www.zillow.comits the only free one I know of, all the other ones take your information then have a realitor contact you, so realitors get the sales leads.you have to know though that no website can take into account the condition of a home, like if its been remodeled or if its falling apart, Zillow will give you a ballpark figure, any good realitor will be able to do a market analysis by comparing other homes in your area and give you an accurate estimate. Almost everyone thinks their house is worth more than it is, so don't be shocked if the realtor says its less than you thought.

Zillow and House values are great. They both put the house I live in at around 3.5 million. The appraisal only came in at 400K. My appraiser didnt by their reports. But I go with what the online sites say.THEY RULE!!!!!

Zillow.com is a good website but in my experience it has not been very accurate. The information they use to make the comparisons does not take into consideration how long ago a neighbors home sold for or the exterior features like pool, garage etc.. so it can't be very accurate. A Realtor would be the best one to advice you on the fair market value of your home using recent sales and making adjustments for the condition and features of your home.
