Investopedia is one of my favorites. They have lots of great articles for beginners to advanced investors. The Motley Fool also has lots of great resources.Check out The Fresh Trader for some more great investing resources, as well as lots of excellent articles. It has some stock screeners that are a good way to filter out some good gems in the big mess that is the stock market.

Those names you mentioned are all " brokerage houses"...and you will choose one to invest your money with and do your trading with...but if you have little or no idea what you are beginning , you'll be a wreck in no time!! So first log on to: http://finance.yahoo.com http://moneycentral.msn.com/beginner...e=introduction http://beginnersinvest.about.com/Find out what investing in a " fund" an ETF or an individual stock is all about....once you have some kind of idea, I suggest you try a " fantasy portfolio"...( to see if you really understand) Try: http://www.top10traders.com/You'll get $ 100,000. to buy and sell and create a portfolio...and you can look at the strategies and techniques of 1650 other traders. When you think you want to really invest/ trade...I prefer Fidelity and E-trade from your list....all applications and info are on-line.Best of luck!

Investing in "individual" stocks takes a lot of knowledge and practice; so I would not suggest doing this until you understand completely how the stock markets work.Instead visit Vanguard.com and learn about mutual funds, index funds, and exchange-traded-funds (ETFs). Trading funds is less risky than trying to trade "individual" stocks.Unless you plan on spending everyday of your life looking at stock charts trying to determine the best time to get in and out of "individual" stocks, I would look into some sort of fund. Also be very careful about asking for stock tips online. Most are probably worthless or contain unethical motives. Do not fall for any Pump-and-Dump scams. As far as books go, I actually started out with the Investing for Dummies books, and they definitely pushed me in the right direction. To many other books have their own agendas in my opinion. The websites below all contain plenty of FREE information to get you started in the right direction.
